After five years abroad, she returned to Sri Lanka and joined Thomas Cook in Colombo, beginning a career in travel planning that would span decades. “Those years were transformative,” she says. “I travelled constantly—not just within Sri Lanka but across Asia, India, and the Maldives. At 40, Sheri took a leap of faith and moved to the United States. There, she met her husband, a fellow Sri Lankan who had lived in the U.S. since childhood, and who she calls the love of her life. “It was a new chapter in every sense,” she reflects. “I came with a job offer, but after 9/11, everything changed. No one was hiring, so I decided to start my own company.”
